Modern Leagues Metagame

Theese are the most successfull decks in MTGO Leagues last week (30th June - 6 July). The number on the side refers to the trophies earned by the decks. As expected, Boros Energy is the most present through the whole week. Statistically at least 2 boros per day achieve a Trohpy in a league. Both Domain and Ketramose seem to be great contenders for the league metagame. I just reported decks with at least 15 trophies, other decks had decent presence: Belcher (14), Prowess (13), Living End - Neobrand (11).

League Grinding Choice

While grinding leagues Boros energy seems to be the obvious choice here, the only issue is the skill ceiling of the deck being really high. Domain and Ketramose are viable alternatives, with domain having an average match duration pretty similar to Boros.

Modern Challenges Metagame

Theese are the decks with the highest top8 presence in the metagame challenges. Once again, Boros and Domain seem to be the top performing decks. Living end and prowess are very valid choices aswell.

Challenge Grinding Choice

In a challenge, the average match duration is way less valuable when deciding which deck to play. While Boros and Domain are still the best choices, i think that slower decks could be very successfull too.

Metagame thoughts

This week the metagame seems to be quite balanced. While i expected a heavier presence of combo decks (Belcher and Neobrand are way under represented) every day at least one trophy can be achieved with each deck. Given the current state of standard and Pauper, i think that Modern is the most "grindable" format right now.
