Standard Leagues Metagame

Theese are the most successfull decks in MTGO Leagues last week (30th June - 7 July). The number on the side refers to the trophies earned by the decks.

Dimir Midrange completely took over the meta. This was somehow expected, being the only deck untouched by the recent Bans. Izzet Cauldron is the closest in League results. I just reported decks with at least 4 trophies, the presence of other decks is very low.

- Dimir Midrange - 15
- Izzet Cauldron - 13
- Convoke - 8
- Azorius Control - 4
- Roots - 4

League Grinding Choice

If you know how to play it, Dimir Midrange is the right choice. The average game duration is not very long and at the moment it just seems to be the best deck out there.

Standard Challenges Metagame

Theese are the decks with the highest top8 presence in the metagame challenges. Once again, Dimir Midrange is the absolute boss of the meta (One challenge got 7 Dimir in top8). Both Cauldron and MonoW seem to be a valid alternative.

- Dimir Midrange - 26
- Izzet Cauldron - 7
- W Control - 7
- Azorius Control - 3
- Convoke - 3
- Jeskai Control - 3
- Mono R - 3

Challenge Grinding Choice

Following the same reasoning used for the Leagues grind, if you can play Dimir, play Dimir. Right now it is dominating, so, there is no reason to play anything else.

Metagame thoughts

This week was definitely a breath of fresh air after all the Cutter plus Mono R we were used to. While this may seem a bad metagame, keep in mind that rotation is going to happen in less than one month and the meta is still adapting to the new Dimir Midrange dominance. Next week we may expect a minor increase in Aggro presence, we just need to figure out how to do that.
